US industrial production down 0.5% in April
Industrial production in the United States fell by a seasonally adjusted 0.5% in April compared to the previous month, according to data released by the Federal Reserve on Wednesday.
Output is currently reported to have declined 1.9% at an annual rate in the first quarter.
The drop in industrial production was led by a big decline in auto output.
Meanwhile, manufacturing production ticked down 0.5% after being unchanged in the previous month.
On an annual basis, total industrial production was 0.9% higher last month.
In the meantime, capacity utilization for the industrial sector saw a decline of 0.6% to 77.9%.
