UK FM Hunt : Brexit talks with Labour very constructive
British Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt stated on Monday that the government’s Brexit talks with the Labour Party are “more constructive and detailed” than anyone expected. Speaking in front of the press in Tokyo,
the official stressed that all sides agree that a deal on Brexit needs to be delivered.
“There is broad agreement on all sides of the House that we have to deliver Brexit,” noted Hunt. He added: “It is clear that Brexit paralysis, if it continues, will be highly damaging to our international standing.”
Commenting on the possibility of the United Kingdom participating in the European elections this year, the minister said that he won’t be “disappointed.”
Earlier today during his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Hunt expressed hope that the UK and Japan will continue their “strong cooperation” after Brexit and assured Abe that London is “very determined”
to avoid a no-deal scenario.
