France’s consumer price inflation eased in September, latest figures revealed on Thursday, confirming the initial estimates.
The consumer price index rose 2.2 percent year-on-year following a 2.3 percent increase in August, the statistical office INSEE said.
On a month-on-month basis, the CPI dropped 0.2 percent after a 0.5 percent rebound in August.
Inflation based on the harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, eased to 2.5 percent from 2.6 percent.
Compared to the previous month, the HICP dropped 0.2 percent after a 0.5 percent increase.
Thus, the initial estimates released on September 28 were confirmed.
INSEE also reported that the CPI core inflation, which excludes volatile prices such as those of energy and fresh food, slowed to 0.7 percent from 0.9 percent.
Energy inflation dropped for a second consecutive month, to 12.8 percent from 13 percent in August. Food prices rose 2.8 percent year-on-year.
