Australia Has A$10.469 Billion Current Account Deficit In Q1
Australia posted a seasonally adjusted current account deficit of A$10.469 billion in the first quarter of 2018, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday.
That missed expectations for a shortfall of A$9.9 billion following the A$14.0 billion deficit in the three months prior.
The balance on goods and services surplus in Q1 was A$4.083 billion, a turnaround of A$5.105 billion from a deficit of A$1.022 billion in the previous three months.
Exports of goods and services rose A$7.063 billion (7 per cent) and imports of goods and services rose A$1.958 billion (2 per cent).
The net export of GDP was 0.3 percent versus expectations for 0.5 percent following the 0.5 percent contraction in the previous three months.
